You Can't Hurry Spring - No, You Just Have to Wait...

I’m getting a little antsy for what little Winter we’ve had, to be over - like - gone. I find the weather to be much too deceptive at this time of year - take today, for example.

I live with south-facing windows and the sun streams in (when there is sun to stream) - pours in, regardless of the season. Today, it was rather lavish in its pouring; dumping loads of sunshine all over everywhere - so much so that I had to open a couple of windows to prevent slow-roasting and the baking of every plant in the place - not that there are many - still living, that is…

Anyway, it appeared to be quite glorious - a perfect day to get a few errands run on foot - perfect!

I dressed warmly enough for the day, having gauged the general temp with a licked finger stuck out the window - but about a block from my house, I realized the finger had not passed the true weather test because it was a little chillier than I’d thought.

Who am I kidding?

It was downright cold - cold enough to cause a slight whimper to escape my lips as a blast of cold air from an unseen wind tunnel nearly ripped my ears off - but not before inserting 2 icicles straight into my eardrums and causing my face to skrintch up and the tears to stream - I’m not kidding here.

Of course, I had no hat or earmuffs or anything else to cover my ears with other than my hands - and I would have done so, except that I didn’t want to walk down the street looking like ‘The Scream’ come to life. Even if I could have done a little screaming as well as whimpering.

The thing is - it was really ‘Bloody Sunny’ and when, for one millisecond, the wind ceased - I felt the heat. No, really - there was actual heat in the air - and then it was gone. I wish I could have gone with it.

Now they say it’s going to be about 16 degrees tomorrow but I’m not convinced - it should have been 16 today judging by the amount of sun there was.

You see, this is why I need Spring to come - because it already looks like it’s here - now, it just needs to feel like it’s here. How hard can that be, Mrs. Nature!?

I’ll give her a few more days.

And then?

Then I’ll just wait - She’s bound to throw off that Winter coat eventually and don something nice - for Spring.
